Katchikally Crocodile pool is one of the most famous places to visit in the Gambia.
It is located in the heart of Bakau, about 10 miles or 16 kilometers from the capital Banjul.
Katchikally is one of three sacred crocodile pool used as sites for fertility rituals. It is a privately owned crocodile pool belonging to the Bojang family of Bakau, one of the founding families of the town.
The exact number of crocodiles is 100 (January 2024) and they only eat fish, consuming 250kg of fish daily.
